The digital economy has become the core strength of a new round of global industrial transformation and it is deeply affecting every aspect of social development. Meanwhile, the era of Internet of Everything comes with higher speed with the fundamental change in the demand for the connection of “human beings” to “things”. However, many problems have been found with the increasing number of network users, the rapid expansion of application fields, insufficient flexibility of the existing network architecture, difficulty in new business development, outdated infrastructure and network security.
To cope with the disadvantages of the current network, innovative technologies such as IPv6, SDN, NFV, 5G and edge computing have emerged at the right moment as a new vitality to the network, contributing unprecedented strength to building a softer, cloudized, functionally virtualized and hardware-unitized new generation network. In addition, the network technology is moving toward a turning point of updating development and the network will be redefined.
Network is redefined to boost network reconstruction in the name of technology
In the tide of global network transformation, actions have been taken in succession along the industry chain and parties of the industry are moving ahead hand in hand. After 120 speeches in three days of the GNTC, many innovative technologies continue to break through, and the vertical industry solutions emerge in endlessly. In addition, global operators, solution and equipment providers and large enterprises are making great efforts to deploy their own new network solutions, and actively participate in open source development and standardization of related technologies, boosting network transformation in the name of technology.
When it comes to the development trends of new generation network, many experts including Stanford Professor Nick McKeown and VP of Linux foundation Phil Robb mentioned open source and technological innovation in their speeches. The development of network technology has never stopped innovation, and the future network will also constantly upgrade and transform with the development of cloud, SDN, 5G, artificial intelligence and other technologies.
Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of H3C Group You Xuejun said when speaking of the network reform, “The future network will move toward software-oriented, intelligent and scenarized development. Software definition will be ubiquitous and will accelerate the evolution toward intelligent network, and the era of intelligent network will come”.
With the comprehensive promotion of IPv6, the Internet Infrastructure Forum (IIF) issues a global initiative
The Internet with rapid growth carries the people’s increasing expectations, while the sustainable evolution of the Internet infrastructure has become more and more important. To further promote the upgrading and updating of the Internet infrastructure, the “Internet Infrastructure Forum (IIF)” was officially launched at the GNTC site with the aim of providing the Internet community with a larger innovative platform to contribute to the development of new generation applications. It is understood that the Forum will carry out its work successively with its first step focusing on driving IPv6 and DNS, and will pay special attention to promoting the connectivity development of global network infrastructure.

Network Transformation - The Global Network Technology Conference (GNTC) will be held from November 28 in Beijing
The
Global Network Technology Conference (GNTC) which is themed as "New
Technology, New Architecture and New Network", will be opened at The Great
Wall Sheraton Hotel Beijing from November 28-30th, 2017 (www.theGNTC.com). Last year, over 2,000 attendees in the network communications industry
participated in the unprecedented GNTC. This year, BII-CFIEC as the organizer
will add a multiple of summits and hot workshops and invite more global top
technical experts to the scene where in the 3-day meeting they will share their
views on the most pure technical trends, showcase the latest and most complete
networking technologies and applications, and discuss global network
reconstruction with onsite industry elites.
As the
largest network technology event in China, it will set up 2 main sessions, 13
roundtable forum, 8 technical summits (SDN, NFV, IPv6, 5G, NB-IoT, network
security, cloud and data center, edge network and edge computing) and a number
of workshops (P4, third class network, CORD, ONAP, etc.), covering all the hot
spots of the new generation of network technologies, and all-round presenting
the latest development of the industry and technology. By providing a platform
for the parties to communicate and exchange, it is dedicated to promoting
win-win cooperation and the process of network reconstruction.
Through
more than 40 years, the network has become an important infrastructure for
human society, becoming a core force to promote economic development and
enhance the human society to move forward. With the launches of "Internet
+" and "broadband China" and other national Initiatives, and
with the rapid development of network technologies and the increasing user
demands, the information and communications industry is facing both new
opportunities and challenges, and openness, innovation and integration have
become an important trend. The traditional network architecture and operating
system have become more and more difficult to adapt to the new requirements of
the Internet business. As new generation of network technology revolution
followed suit to spring up, network transformation has become a trend
inevitable. In the future, IPv6 will provide a wider range of address
resources; SDN / NFV will provide network flexibility and intelligence; 5G will
bring a wider bandwidth and mobility; NB-IoT will make better access of the
Internet of Things; clouding trend is unstoppable, and the integration of Edge
network and edge computing and other network technologies will plug wings for
the Internet to develop...
As a key
force to push reconstruction of the network architecture, operators at home and
abroad invariably put focus on the key issue of network reconstruction, and
have developed a transformation strategy, hoping to occupy a favorable position
in the future network development industry by judging both from the views of
own development or service provision. China Mobile released its "Big
Connection" development strategy for the next decade; China Unicom
released the new generation of network architecture CUBE-Net 2.0; China Telecom
released the white paper of CTNet2025 network architecture, all stressing that
the network transformation is the only way for operators to develop.
Internationally, the United States’ Verizon and AT&T, Japan’s NTT, and
British Telecom and other mainstream operators also announced a number of
network reconstruction plans and strategies, and have stressed the need to use
SDN and NFV technologies to build a new generation of network architecture, and
has achieved preliminary results. Among them, AT&T has first released Domain
2.0 plan to promote forward the network transitioning to SDN / NFV-based new
architecture, and to start cooperating cloud services with IBM. Verizon has
made a lot of attempts in cloud system integration, and introduced cloud
computing services. They combine the cloud architecture with the transformation
strategy, bring together more quality resources, respond timely to the changes
in the entire communications and computer industry, and set a good example for
the industry as a whole. From which we can also foresee great changes would
occur in the future network.
From
another point of view, major manufacturers and application clients are both the
forces to support network reconstruction and direct beneficiaries, and had
early begun to focus on basic technologies of SDN / NFV, IPv6, NB-IoT, cloud
data center, edge network and edge computing and other new structural network.
In the future, operators and manufacturers and users will shift from the
current simple sales model to the model of integrated innovation and joint
development that will produce a profound impact on the entire communications
industry chain
In this
context, this GNTC conference will invite experts from the Chinese Academy of
Engineering, network technology pioneers of countries, and selected experts of
the Internet Hall of Fame to deliver speeches on the trends of world network
technology development. In addition, the conference will collaborate with
experts and contributors from Linux Foundation, ONF, MEF, APNIC, IPv6 Forum,
OPNFV, ONAP, 3GPP and other communities to communicate with the audience on the
latest technological achievements. At the same time, we will also invite
representatives of well-known global operators, major manufacturers and
application units to gather in Beijing to commit to the shared mission.
Showcasing
advanced technologies and discussing with industrial elites, the Global Network
Technology Conference (GNTC) 2017 will invite visitors to join us in a new era
of "new technology, new architecture, and new network". The
organizing committee looks forward to your participation.
